I lived a fluffy cloud life...until I didn't.
I grew up in a happy family and experienced people as mostly good and life as mostly wonderful.
When I learned, as a young mother of two, that my husband had a serious drug problem my world began to crumble. It was after my first divorce that I went back to school to become a therapist (and yes, I said first divorce. A second was in my not-so-distant future). I had many dark days, many cry in my closet nights, and many times when I could not see how I would make it through one more day.
I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist located in Utah and have been seeing clients since 2009. I received my Bachelor's Degree from Brigham Young University and my Master's from COAMFTE accredited Alliant International University, which is the highest MFT accreditation in the nation.
My super power is deeply connecting with people and helping them feel seen and valued. Once a person feels seen they can truly begin to heal.
I have worked in a variety of clinical settings including community clinics, LDS Family Services, an inpatient psychiatric hospital and private practice. Private practice is my favorite!
I have extended training in Emotionally Focused Therapy which is the only empirically validated couple's therapy model and has been proven through research to be effective and successful. I love working with couples and helping them move through their roadblocks and rekindle their connection.
I also work with individuals who are looking to change their thinking and live happier, more fulfilling lives. I work with individuals, couples, and families who are dealing with anxiety, depression, family conflict, marriage problems, divorce and blending families, faith transitions, and LGBTQ+ issues as well.
Enough sleep, good boundaries, caffeine, comfy clothes, speaking kindly to yourself, Jesus, dance parties, and accepting the good along with the bad.
Drama, judgement, perfection, downplaying our power, forgetting our strength, road rage, black and white thinking.
Doing therapy, playing with my kids, dancing to loud music in my kitchen, reading, serving in the youth organization at church, figuring out how to change the world.
Prayers, positive affirmations, loving on my kids and husband, instagramming, riding my Peloton, making it through one more day.
